Trakkr Docs

Glossary

A

Actions

Trakkr's prioritized to-do feed. Recommendations are auto-generated from your visibility data and carry a status (new, in progress, completed, snoozed). Learn more →

Active Prompt

A prompt that runs daily and counts toward your plan limit. Toggle the On column off to pause it without losing history.

Agency Mode

A Scale-plan feature that unlocks portfolio views, the Pitches generator, a client health dashboard, and the White-Label Portal.

Agent

Trakkr's in-app AI assistant. Ask questions about your data in plain English and get answers grounded in your real numbers. Learn more →

AI Crawler

Any AI provider's bot that visits your site to collect content. Trakkr identifies 60+, including GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot, and ChatGPT-User.

AI Model

An artificial intelligence system that generates text responses. Examples: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google).

AI Overviews

Google's AI-generated summaries that appear at the top of search results. Also called SGE (Search Generative Experience). One of the three surfaces Trakkr pulls citation data from.

AI Pages

Trakkr's intelligent proxy that serves AI-optimized HTML to crawlers without changing your real site. Detect → Transform → Serve → Track. Learn more →

AI Visibility

How often and how prominently your brand appears in AI-generated responses. This is Trakkr's core metric.

AI Volume

Estimated number of times people ask AI platforms about a topic each month. Shown with confidence tiers (Measured, Calibrated, Projected). See the formula →

Alias

An alternative name for your brand. Adding aliases (like "AWS" for "Amazon Web Services") improves detection accuracy in AI responses.

Audit Score

Your site's 0–100 AI-readiness rating from Optimize. Higher means AI crawlers can extract and cite your content more easily.

Average Position

Where you typically sit in a list-style AI response, averaged across mentions. Lower is better; 1–2 is excellent.

B

Brand

A company, product, or entity you track in Trakkr. Each brand has its own prompts, visibility scores, citations, competitors, aliases, and history; nothing carries over between brands by default.

Brand Group

A color-coded grouping for organizing many brands. Used most often by agencies to bucket brands by client.

Branded Prompt

A prompt that names your own brand ("Is Stripe good for SaaS?"). Not what Trakkr is built for; keep prompts category-level so AI has to choose whether to recommend you.

C

Citation

A URL an AI model returns as a source for its answer. Trakkr captures citations from three surfaces: Perplexity, ChatGPT Search, and Google AI Overviews. Learn more →

Citation Feed

A chronological changelog of citation events on the Citations page: New, Lost, Sentiment changed, Competitor appeared. Read it weekly on the 7-day window.

Citation Gap

A source where competitors are cited but you aren't. Closing gaps is one of the highest-leverage moves you can make.

Citation Quality Score

Average authority of the sources citing your brand, on a 0–100 scale, weighted by repeat citations. See the formula →

Citation Sentiment

Whether a citing page discusses you positively, neutrally, or negatively toward your brand specifically.

Client Portal

The read-only experience for white-label clients, branded to your agency and hosted on your custom domain. Distinct from a one-off shared report link.

Competitive Gap

The visibility difference between you and a specific competitor, in percentage points. Positive = you're ahead; negative = they are.

Competitor

Another brand that AI puts next to yours when answering your tracked prompts. Trakkr discovers competitors automatically from real responses; there's no Add button. Learn more →

Conversation Bot

An AI crawler that hits your site during a live AI chat (ChatGPT-User, Claude-User, Perplexity-User). The strongest leading indicator that a citation is about to land.

Crawler

An AI company's bot that visits websites to collect data for training, indexing, or live-conversation retrieval. See also AI Crawler.

Crawlers (dashboard)

The Trakkr page where every AI bot visit to your site is logged, classified by intent (Training / Indexing / Conversations), and connected to citation and click data. Agent traffic (Google-Agent) is tracked too but surfaced through a platform filter, not as its own category card. Learn more →

D

Demand Score

How likely people are to ask a given question in AI chat, on a 0–100 scale. Blends search volume with how naturally the query fits AI conversation patterns. See the formula →

Diagnose

A single-prompt deep-dive. Runs one query against the live models and writes a brief explaining why the answer looks the way it does and what would change it. Learn more →

Discovery Prompt

A prompt about finding solutions, like "What's the best tool for X?" These reveal whether you're in the consideration set. The shape Trakkr is built around.

Domain Authority

How authoritative a citing website is; Forbes outranks a random blog. Borrowed from established SEO metrics and refined with AI-specific signals.

E

Earned Media

News and editorial citations: TechCrunch, NYT, industry publications. One of Trakkr's eight source types, and usually the highest-leverage class to chase.

F

Fit Score

In Outreach, a 0–100 rating of how well a citation source matches your brand and prompts. The leverage half of the Priority calculation.

G

Gap Prompt

A prompt where competitors appear but you don't. High-priority opportunities for improvement.

I

Ideas

The in-page prompt brainstorming tool at the bottom of the Prompts page. Three modes: brand, tag, keyword.

Indexing Crawler

A bot that pre-fetches content for an AI search index (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot). Heavy hits on a page often precede citations.

L

Live Visitors

Real-time view of humans landing on your site after asking an AI tool. Powered by your Google Analytics 4 connection. Learn more →

llms.txt

A new convention for telling AI crawlers which content to read first. Sits at /llms.txt on your domain, like a sitemap written for models instead of search engines.

M

Mention

When an AI model includes your brand name in its response. Mentions can be positive, neutral, or negative.

Model Performance

How well you score on a specific AI model. Different models have different training data and biases, so scoring 80% on Claude and 30% on Perplexity is normal.

N

Narrative

A specific topic you monitor across AI models over time, with keywords, an optional comparison brand, and a 0–100 score per model. Used to track corrective messaging.

O

Optimize

Site audit that scores your AI-readiness 0–100 and gives you platform-specific fixes for Shopify, WordPress, Next.js, and more. Learn more →

Outreach

A working queue built from citation gaps. Targets are ranked by Fit and Difficulty, with generated pitch angles and Won / Contacted / Hidden status. Learn more →

Overall Perception

Your headline perception number: a 0–100 score across all 20 perception dimensions. See the formula →

P

Perception

How an AI describes your brand's qualities across 20 dimensions in 5 categories (trust, quality, value, position, innovation). Learn more →

Persona

A buyer archetype like "Enterprise IT Buyer" or "Solo Indie Hacker", auto-classified by Trakkr from your prompts. Unlocks once you have 10+ active prompts.

Phrasing Analysis

For any prompt, Trakkr generates five semantic variants and shows where you rank on each. Surfaces wording blind spots: places where you win on one phrasing and lose on another.

Position

Your rank in a list-style AI response. Position 1 means you were mentioned first.

Presence

Whether you were mentioned at all in a response, regardless of position.

Presence Rate

Percentage of prompts where your brand appears at all, regardless of position. Breadth, not depth.

Prompt

A question or request you track in Trakkr. Prompts simulate what real users ask AI assistants and are the unit AI visibility is measured in.

Prompt Pack

An add-on that expands your active prompt limit per brand (+50, +100, +200). Billed per brand, not per workspace.

Q

Quick Wins

A one-click view of prompts where the smallest amount of work moves you furthest. Appears after a Research run and as an Outreach filter.

R

RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)

A technique where AI models search the web or a database before generating responses. Models like Perplexity use RAG extensively.

Reddit Monitoring

Finds Reddit threads where your brand or competitors are discussed, scores each for citation potential, and helps you draft authenticity-graded replies. Learn more →

Report

A snapshot of your visibility data at a point in time. Used for historical analysis and comparison.

Research

Trakkr's discovery tool that generates ~500 prompts for your category, asks them across AI models, and surfaces which ones are worth tracking. One-shot scan, not a daily tracker. Run Research →

Roles

Trakkr accounts have three roles: Owner (account creator, full control), Admin (full data and team access, shares billing), and Viewer (read-only). Used by team and client portal access alike.

S

Score

A numerical measure of performance. Trakkr tracks visibility scores, perception scores, citation quality scores, and more.

Sentiment

Whether an AI's description of your brand is positive, negative, or neutral.

Share of Voice

Your visibility expressed as a proportion of total visibility across all tracked competitors. The closest Trakkr has to a "category leadership" number.

A public URL that exposes a read-only snapshot of your dashboard. Distinct from the White-Label Portal, which is a full authenticated client experience.

Source Type

How Trakkr classifies a cited domain: Owned, Earned media, Review, Social, Institution, PR wire, Competition, or Other. Different types deserve different responses; earned media and institution carry the most lift, PR wire the least.

T

Tag

A label you apply to prompts for organization. Tags help you filter and analyze prompt groups by intent, topic, competitor, audience, or market.

Topic Snapshot

A narrowed Research run on a specific slice of your market (50–100 prompts, 3–5 minutes). Persists across runs, unlike the main Research scan which is replaced each time.

Training Crawler

An AI bot scraping content for a future model training cycle (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Amazonbot, CCBot). Effects appear in 6–18 months, not immediately.

Training Data

The content AI models learn from during training. Being present in training data is foundational for visibility on training-data-only models like base ChatGPT.

Trend

The direction your metrics are moving over time. Tracked as up ↑, down ↓, or stable →. The 30-day trend is usually a better signal than 7-day movement.

U

Unbranded Prompt

A category-level question that doesn't name your brand, e.g. "Best CRM for B2B SaaS". The shape Trakkr is built around; branded prompts give AI the answer and produce no competitive signal.

V

Visibility Score

The percentage of tracked prompts where your brand appears in AI responses, weighted by position. Your headline metric.

Visibility Score = (Position-weighted points earned / Max possible points) × 100

W

White-Label Portal

A full client portal hosted on your custom domain with your branding. Used by agencies to give clients an ongoing branded experience instead of one-off shared links. Learn more →

Win Rate

How often you're the #1 mentioned brand in responses. A measure of leadership, not just presence.

Workflow

An automation in Trakkr that runs an action when a trigger fires. Example: "Email me when visibility drops below 50%." Distinct from Actions, which surfaces recommendations you decide whether to act on. Learn more →
